Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State was today rated as the best human rights friendly Governor in the Northern Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Co. Chairman of the Constitutional Rights Awareness and Liberty Initiatives, Mr. Adeola Oyinlade during a conference at the United State consulate in Lagos.
Governor Ishaku was selected based on his stance for freedom of peaceful assembly, tolerance to opposition, education and right to collective bargain amongst others.
Arch. Ishaku in his response, said fifty Chiefdoms has been created with the sole aim to engage people at the grassroots in governance. In addition, he gave his reassurance that he has adopted proactive measures to end kidnapping and theft, banditry, farmers and herders crisis, and other crim
inal acts round the State.
Governor Ishaku stated that taraba is the most peaceful state today in the Northeastern part of the country. He expressed joy on the educational improvement of the State where he has been able to train and retrain teachers and also employed more.
He commended the Human Rights Initiatives for their immense effort by following his goodworks that has impacted positively on the lives of Tarabans.
Also in a similar category, His Excellency Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State was rated as the best Human Rights Friendly Governor for the western part of the Country while that of the Southern part went to Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State.
