H.E Barr. Mrs. Anna Ishaku, Wife of the Governor of Taraba State earlier today held a seminar to further sensitize the citizenry on the continuation of the campaign of gender based violence against women and girls. Taking place at Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba (HAFT) Conference Hall Jalingo, Barr. Anna remarked that women need to have their rights respected by all in the society.
She explained that women should brace up in supporting the campaign so that it will have positive results.
The Governor’s wife urged victims of any gender based violence to speak out and assured her readiness to fight for them.
Speaking on dangers of drug and substance abuse, Psychologist Mr. Sanda Benjamin of the Hope Health Centre said drug abusers are exposed to many health hazards.
Benjamin explained that drug abuse leads to committing criminal activities such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other vices.
On her part, Senior Special Assistant (S.S.A) to the Governor’s wife on administration, Mrs. Nungrimam Dashe spoke on the topic Yes I Can and encouraged youths to make positive decisions in life.
A nutritionist, Mr. Nammuma Sylvanus Giwa who also talked on Nutrition and Health encouraged participants to learn to eat good diets.
In a testimony, rehabilitated drug abuser Jude Samson appreciated the Governor’s wife for establishing Hope Health Drug Centre as it has saved his life.
He warned youths not to indulge into drug and substance abuse saying it can drastically shorten a person’s lifespan.
