Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has constituted a commission of inquiry into the crisis between TIV and their neighbouring Communities of Taraba State.

In a statewide broadcast, Governor Ishaku has instructed Justice Kumai Bayang Akaahs to serve as Chairman while Justice Emmanuel Garba, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, Barrister Danjuma Rindam, Professor Rotgak Gofwen and Professor Istifanus Zabadi are to serve as members.

Others are Hamidu Audu, Esq Secretary of the Commission while Emeka Okoro Esq will serve as the Commission Counsel.

The Governor read the terms of reference of the Commission to include examining the remote and immediate causes of the crises between TIV and people living in Communities of Wukari, Takum, Donga, Ibi, Ussa, Gassol and Bali Local Government Areas or any other location within Taraba State from nineteen ninety one.

He said they are to examine and identify cases of banditry, kidnapping and other vices related to or arising from within the border communities and their relationship with the crisis if any.

Governor Ishaku has tasked the committee to identify basic issues and causes of prolonged and perennial crisis between these communities and advise on the strategies for securing lasting peace.

The Governor opined that they are also to identify individuals or groups that might have contributed or instigated the crisis and recommend appropriate sanctions where necessary.

He said they are to identify communities affected and the impact of damage on deaths and properties lost including examining the roles state, local government and other institutions played to abate or facilitate the crises and make recommendations that will effectively stem the crisis in Taraba State.

Ishaku gave the Commission of Inquiry three months of ninety days from the date of inauguration to submit reports.
