Governor Darius Ishaku has emphasized the importance of community based ownership of tractors to boost Agriculture in the State.

The Governor was speaking when he inspected the Central Workshop of the State tractor hiring unit in Jalingo.

He affirmed that the experiment on the community base ownership has commenced in the state which is yielding results.

Governor Ishaku promised to establish mobile Workshops in all the Senatorial zones saying that servicing of tractors would be free except for the replacements of parts.

Commenting, Chairman of the Northeast Development Commission Mohammed Alkali averred that the NDC is always passionate about Agriculture since over eighty percent of people in the Northeast depend on it.

He disclosed that the NDC have designed Integrated Agricultural program like the provision of farming implements for rural farmers and others.

Alkali,said the NDC is poised at reviving workshops like the tractor hiring unit to encourage farmers.

Earlier, General Manager of the tractor hiring unit Mr. John Awudu stated that the Tractor hiring unit needs over hauling.

Awudu, called on Governor Darius Ishaku and the NEDC to quickly intervene to save the workshop from total collapse.

He recalled that in two thousand and eight the center which has forty six tractors was able to generate thirty seven million naira as revenue doubling its target for that year and also got fifty seven million naira in two thousand and nine through all the tractors that are now grounded.

Governor Darius Ishaku also inspected the Gene laboratory Center at the State Specialist hospital that is effective for the testing of Covid 19 patients.
